Meet Diego Serrano, a colleague from BBVA Technology Europe who, through the BBVA Group’s International Development Program (IDP), is currently living a unique professional exchange experience in Mexico City with BBVA Technology América.
Diego is a Delivery Associate in the Architecture, Core Banking area and has been part of BBVA Technology Europe since 2014. During his one-month stay, he is collaborating with Core Banking teams at BBVA Technology América with a dual purpose: strengthening global projects and building connections through learning, collaboration, and closer relationships across regions.
“I’m here to support the projects we have in common, to understand how work is done in Mexico, and to build new connections with colleagues. That combination of technical and cultural learning is what motivates me the most.”
The process to join the IDP was as simple as it was challenging: he received an email announcing the opportunity, applied, and shared why he wanted to be part of it.
“Stepping out of your routine can be a bit intimidating,” he says, “but once you arrive, you feel welcomed, and that fear disappears. The experience has been incredibly rewarding.”
During his stay, his day starts by addressing pending matters from Spain, and then he fully joins local initiatives in Mexico. He takes part in daily meetings, sessions with coordinators, and gatherings with all Core Banking teams to align progress and strengthen transatlantic collaboration.
“I’ve encountered an incredible level of human connection, which is one of this company’s greatest strengths. And I’ve never felt alone. I’m truly grateful for the warm welcome from BBVA Technology América.”
Diego encourages others to take on this experience:
“Don’t be afraid. It’s an experience that enriches you and transforms you. I hope to leave Mexico as a better person and a better professional. These kinds of experiences truly change your life.”At BBVA Technology América, we celebrate programs that connect tal
